Course we’re biased. But we’ve every reason to be. Sanderstead is a cracker of a community, and we’re proud to be a part of it. From green spaces to green smoothies, Sanderstead has it all. Come on, I’ll show you around.

Best for brunch. If you can’t function without your morning coffee, get yourself down to Filtr for your caffeine and croissant hit. Smak Bites, Marmaris and Olive Branch are firm favourites of ours, as is Priscilla’s Tea Rooms, which is run by a local family who can’t do enough for the local community.

Dinners after dark. Call the babysitter because you have to try the highly-recommended Med Kitchen. This place is always buzzy and the Turkish food here is banging. Expect to need a doggy bag for the family-sized portions that the chefs whip up, or if that boxset finale is calling your name, they do take-out too.

Top of the take-aways. For a Netflix and noodles kind of night, tap up Thai Express at Boxpark via Deliveroo (or pick from one of the other 25 street-food faves you can enjoy from afar). If it’s Indian you’re after, curry houses Dheli Kitchen, Panahar and Samsara are always the answer, and if you’re looking for somewhere new to head next, Instagram at the ready because new restaurant Vera opens in Riddlesdown in Summer 2023.

Outside space. Fancy a walk with the dogs or the kids? Head to Kingwood or Riddlesdown to rid the cobwebs and get your fix of fresh air. When things get a bit muddy, take a detour to Kenley Aerodrome with the bikes and scooters, and if you’re lucky you’ll get a good view of the gliders taking off.

Sport obsessed. If you’re into your sport then you’re spoilt for choice. Take a wander up to Trinity Cricket and Rugby Club or hit up one of a dozen tennis and football clubs.

If, like me, golf is your go-to, you’ve got Farleigh Court, Croham Hurst and Woldingham right here, not to mention the many, many (many!) courses beginning with “Addington”.

Pizza in the park. Be in the right place at the right time and you might be lucky enough to spot the spectacular Pizza Project in Sanderstead Park. But that’s on a need-to-know basis.

Schools.Buy.Simon

We all know location, location, location matters, but when it comes to catchment areas, it’s crucial. Luckily, in Sanderstead, you’ve got a whole bunch of top-rated nurseries and schools right here on your doorstep.

Nurseries. Little Angels pre-school day nursery. Atwood Nursery. Sanderstead Park Nursery. Little Acorns at Hamsey Green Primary.

Primary schools. Atwood Primary Academy. Gresham Primary School. Ridgeway Primary School. Hamsey Green Primary School.

Secondary schools. Riddlesdown Collegiate. Warlingham School.

Independent schools. Croydon High School. Trinity. Royal Russell School. Whitgift School.
